Bodywork

I have long been interested in the holistic model of healing, which embraces mind, body, emotions and spirit and seeks integration of all these parts of ourselves. I have been involved in healing bodywork for over 30 years.

I began training in 1982 with healers of the western tradition at the Westbank Healing and Teaching Centre in rural Fife, Scotland, where I lived and trained with Patricia and Bruce Macmanaway for 18 months.

During 1983 I trained in Reflexology with the Bayley School and, in 1985, with the London School of Aromatherapy. I have been practising aromatherapy ever since. I have been a member of the International Federation of Aromatherapists since 1984.

I use my hands to listen deeply to the body; and use organic essential oils which have different therapeutic qualities and character. Over the years in practice, I have deepened my understanding of the language of the body, its unique truth and wisdom and how it speaks to us through symptoms. Healing the split between body and mind involves a willingness to be in contact with our feeling life.

My focus is to listen to the whole person, bring balance, and release blocked energy on the different levels that are causing pain.

The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you.

Don’t go back to sleep.

You must ask for what you really want.

Don’t go back to sleep.

People are going back and forth across the doorsill

where the two worlds touch.

The door is round and open,

Don’t go back to sleep.

Aromatherapy

The practice of aromatherapy is based on the ancient healing art of massage using essential oils. Aromatherapy is suitable for the treatment of many different conditions, for relieving stress from body and mind and bringing balance, relaxation and wellbeing.

During the treatment and after consultation I choose from a wide range of organic oils each wtih own therapeutic quality and character, according to the needs of the client. The oils are extracted from the roots, stems, bark, fruit and flowers of plants, and for massage are diluted and mixed with an organic carrier oil. They are are absorbed through the skin where they travel through the bloodstream to bring healing.

Other benefits may be: improved circulation and immune system, balance to the hormonal and nervous system. Compressing, inhalations, and baths can also part of the treatment.

Some of the conditions people come with:

  • Stress
  • Shock
  • Loss
  • Muscular, back, neck and joint pain
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Skin conditions
  • Menstrual problems.

Cost: The sessions are 1¼ hours at £50 or 1½ hours at £55

Reflexology

Reflexology has it’s origins in ancient Egypt, China and Japan. A natural healing art, it is a relaxing treatment of massage to the feet, hands and ears. The reflex points on the feet, hands and ears correspond to parts of the whole body. The treatment works on many levels, calming, soothing, and stimulating the immune system, bringing balance and wellbeing.

Some of the conditions people come with:

  • Stress
  • Back pain and muscular pain
  • Menstrual pain
  • Headaches
  • Lymph problems
  • Depression
  • Anxiety

Cost: Reflexology 1¼ hours £45

Healing

The "Laying on of hands" is probably the oldest and simplest form of healing. I first began to experience this when I became a student of Bruce and Patricia Macmanaway in 1982 at the Westbank healing and teaching centre in Fife, Scotland. This is a hands-on treatment which involves listening to the body through touch and stimulating the client's body's own healing resources. This induces a deep state of relaxation.

Cost: 1 hour £45
