Artwork

I grew up in an artistic environment; from my early days have been attracted to colour and creativity and to making things.

I find inspiration, peace and freedom in the creative expression of painting, clay-modelling, carving, basketry, bead and leatherwork.

Over the years I have accepted commissions for ceremonial and personal objects: dancing anklets, belts, buckles, medicine fans, rattles, gourds and medicine pouches.

Painting

I find that painting, like much of the creative process, is a bridge from the inner to the outer.​

Clay Modelling

I enjoy working with clay and the process of Raku. It is always a suprise.

Basketry

I took up basket-making from long pine needles, from trees in the high desert of New Mexico. To sit in the sun, soaking and preparing the needles before weaving in a long spiral, is very satisfying and enjoyable.

Baskets are made from pine, leather and horsehair, sometimes beaded.

Bead & Leatherwork

I began beading in the early 90’s while staying in California; and since then have made many different kinds of pouches and medicine bags. The beads are made of glass, shells, wood, precious and semi-precious stones.
